Fats Holler is a group made up of skillful musicians from Roanoke, the New River Valley, and beyond. Co-leaders Mark Mossey (trumpet) and Alan Munshower (upright bass) began playing together in outdoor jam sessions in 2020, and performing their old-timey jazz around the region in 2022. The group's name comes from the Jazz Age pianist, and composer of hits such as Ain't Misbehavin' and Honeysuckle Rose, Fats Waller. Having a repertoire primarily of music from the 1910's-1930's, the group is bringing the sounds of old New Orleans to Southwest Virginia. Check out the sound samples below, and come out to one of our performance dates and say hello! Inquiries please email alan.munshower@gmail.com.
